What is SEVIS?

The Student and Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS) is the system that the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) implemented for electronic reporting and record keeping as dictated by a 1996 law. Your I-20 form or DS-2019 was prepared using SEVIS. All F-1, F-2 J-1, and J-2 visa status information must be entered into SEVIS.
